Indian River School District eyeing possible annexation with Millsboro
MILLSBORO, Del. – In Millsboro, officials are addressing talks of the Indian River School District possibly annexing with the town. Town officials say there’s been unofficial talks of this merger but nothing’s set in stone just yet. Officials say there’s been discussion of bringing the East Millsboro Elementary School and the Ingram Pond property where the district’s Outdoor Education Center is located, into town limits. Millsboro Town Manager Sheldon Hudson says there are a number of benefits of this potential move, which would allow the police department to respond to incidents at the schools right away instead of waiting to be dispatched by the 911 center.
“It can have a positive impact on response times and that’s one of the advantages of being in town. Obviously also you have access to public water and sewer in that type of scenario as well,” said Hudson.
Hudson adds that an official meeting for discussing the annexation could happen, but that’s up to the Indian River School District to decide.
