Habitat looks to empower women through its build program
GEORGETOWN, Del. – The Sussex County Habitat for Humanity is hoping a new program will inspire more women to get involved in their organization.
The new Women Build Program is a monthly clinic being offered by the Sussex Habitat where women can come out and learn everything about constructing a home, from flooring and siding to windows and doors.
Habitat has a women build week every year, but they are hoping this program can empower local women to either volunteer, or to do their own do it yourself projects around their own homes.
“They could definitely improve their living conditions, they could learn how to do different do-it-yourself projects, they could also volunteer for an organization and help improve their community,” said volunteer services manager Courtney Tull.
Sussex Habitat will be constructing a women build house in 2020, and officials hope this new program will inspire more women to come out and volunteer for that construction.
The first day for the Women Build Program will be August 3.
