Get ready to “Run For the Paws” in this upcoming 5K race

DEWEY BEACH, Del. — Get out your racing shoes or should I say paws because the 11th Annual “Run for the Paws” Lucy Crowe Memorial 5K Run is here again. The event is this Saturday, August 3rd, 2019, and starts at 8:00 A.M in Dewey Beach Delaware.

This morning our very own Erica Murphy sat with the event director, Cheryl Crowe and they talked about the upcoming 5K Run for the furry friends. Cheryl was also joined by a very special guest, Percy, who made her ABC debut this morning. Percy was such a good girl while Cheryl gave information about the upcoming event.

Cheryl told us, you can either register early or the day of the race, but there are a few reasons why you should register early. If you register now, you can do a pre-race pick-up the day before the race. You can get your t-shirt and your event number Friday evening, from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. on the outdoor porch at Bluecoast Seafood Grill in Rehoboth,  30115 Veterans Way, in front of Bed Bath and Beyond and Fresh Market. You also get the privileged of heading straight to the race Saturday morning unlike those who do same day registration.

If you register the same day as the race, your pick-up time is 6:45 to 7:45 A.M. Registration costs is $22 for pre-registration, if postmarked by Monday of race week. Then, at the start of race week, registration goes up to $25. Runners will be allowed to park in Lions Club and Northbeach parking lots until 11 am. Thank you to Dewey Police for waiving permit parking between bayside Mckinley St. and bayside Swedes St. until 11:00 am on Saturday.

This 5K benefits local rescues for furry friends. This is a fundraising event that will be donating 100% of proceeds to the Brandywine SPCA. And after the race, The Lions Club Dewey Beach, located at 115 McKinley St, Dewey Beach, DE will be hosting the post race party and awards ceremony with food, furry friends and fun!  The Starboard/Tito’s will host a Bloody Mary Bar.

So come out and support the puppies! For more information or registration you can visit www.shorestriders.com.
