Gear Up for the 17th Annual Watermelon Festival

SALISBURY, Md. — Here on Good Morning Delmarva our very own Erica Murphy sat down with Michelle Wright, one of the owner’s of Wright’s Market here in Salisbury. Michelle was here to talk about the upcoming 17th Annual Watermelon Festival on Saturday, July 27th from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M.

Michelle informed us that the Watermelon Festival is a way for the community to come and  support their non-profit groups and enjoy a family-fun day full of games, food, music, and so much more. She says free watermelon slices will be provided and a free ear of corn with each meal purchased by the Delmar VFW or Lion Club. The Delmar VFW are raising money for their veterans and the Delmar Lions Club is raising money as well. A Relay for Life Team will also be there to raise money and all of their proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.

Michelle says they help promote non-profit groups but she says she is also proud that Wright’s Market is a part of the Home For Our Hero project. She says they have joined forces with Maryland – Delaware Long & Foster Group, the Greater Salisbury Committee, and Operation: We Care to try and raise a home for for a veteran and his family. The great thing about this is that there will be fun activities all while raising money for a good cause.

So come on out and enjoy food, drinks, water melon eating contests, live music and more at the 17th Annual Watermelon Festival. For more information you can reach the Wright’s at 410-742-8845 or visit their website at www.wrightsmarket.com.
