Downtown Doves volunteering across Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. – People will be seeing some more friendly faces around Salisbury thanks to a new partnership the city has with Dove Pointe.

The new program is called Downtown Doves. Dove Pointe, an organization that helps individuals with disabilities, asked to partner with the City to help provide new opportunities for its members. People involved with the non-profit will now be able to do their part by volunteering around the city, helping to pick up litter. Salisbury’s Mayor Jake Day tells 47 ABC that this partnership is a clear example of how we all play a role in our community.

“Obviously there are fantastic people at Dove Pointe that work and do work with and businesses in our community. But this is a little bit different they volunteer so these are members of Dove Pointe who are out in our community giving back by picking up litter that they see around downtown,” says Mayor Jake Day.

Officials say the Downtown Doves will be volunteering twice a week to pick up litter and three times a week when there is a Third Friday event.
