DelDOT announces upcoming overnight lane closures on Rehoboth drawbridge

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – Motorists traveling the drawbridge over the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal should prepare for overnight lane closures beginning next week.

According to DelDOT, the closures are scheduled to begin on Monday, July 8th, and take place from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Wednesday only, weather permitting.

We’re told this closure is so that sandblasting and painting of the underside of the bridge can take place. There will be single lane closures during the above hours, and flaggers will be on site to direct motorists. Those traveling the area during these times should remain alert.

Part of this project will also include replacing sidewalks on both sides of the bridge, however only one side will be closed for replacement at a time. Pedestrians and cyclists will be able to use the other side of the sidewalk on the bridge.

Repairs are expected to wrap up on or around August 28th.
