UPDATE: Crash involving tractor/trailer, bicyclist claims life of one

EASTON, Md. – Easton Police say a crash involving a tractor/trailer and bicyclist turned fatal Wednesday afternoon.

According to police, shortly before 1 p.m. a tractor/trailer for Hale Trailer was in the process of turning right onto Easton Parkway from Airpark Drive when it collided with a bicyclist. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the bicyclist came up behind the trailer after improperly passing vehicles on their right, attempting to pass the trailer on its right at the same time it was turning.

The bicyclist, identified as 51-year-old Joseph Hickey of Easton, fell to the ground on contact with the trailer. He later died as a result of his injuries at the University of Maryland-Easton Hospital.

The driver of the tractor/trailer, identified as 53-year-old April Nordine of Ridgely, MD, was not injured in the crash.
