Berlin asks residents to limit energy use
BERLIN, Md. – You can’t step outside without feeling the extreme heat in our area, and now officials in Berlin are asking residents to help out.
The town issued a ‘Tweak Our Peak’ alert, asking people in the town to conserve or limit their energy use.
The town says electric is expensive during periods of extreme heat like this, so if residents cut back, the town can save some money.
And while you may associate conserving energy with turning off your air conditioner, that’s not necessarily what the town is asking you to do.
“There’s other ways you can save money, like just don’t use your washing machine, your dishwasher, any large appliances during these peak periods, which during the summer are typically between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.,” Laura Allen, Town Administrator, said.
And officials add that by adjusting your thermostat just a bit, you can save a lot of money during peak heat.
