12-year-old receives certificate of appreciation from Indian River Vol. Fire Company

MILLSBORO, Del. – A local 12-year-old recently received a certificate of appreciation for her quick reaction to a house fire in her neighborhood.

Back on June 23rd, McKenzie heard a fire alarm in her neighborhood of Pot Nets Lakeside, and after investigating found a home with smoke coming out of the window. She then called 911.

The Indian River Volunteer Fire Company presented McKenzie with the certificate on Saturday, saying that the home only sustained minimal damages due to McKenzie’s quick actions.
