Work underway for community garden in Pittsville
PITTSVILLE, Md. – Neighbors in Pittsville are coming together to create a community garden for kids in the area.
Organizers say the idea for a garden came about after meeting with members of the Camden Community Garden in Salisbury.
Pittsville resident Dawn Toner Mace says there is a huge need for more places where kids can grow and play.
The garden would grow all sorts of vegetables. There would also be a chance to create kindness rocks.
Organizers say this garden will benefit kids at the Pittsville Elementary and Middle School.
They hope this garden will help bring the community closer together.
“You get people out here communicating and just spending time here together,” said Mace.
“I observed that over in Camden, so I thought this is just the best thing to get people together in the community,” said Mace.
Organizers say they already have the plot of land ready near the town’s community center. Now they are looking on getting the funding.
