Weekend house fire in Kent Co. deemed accidental

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says an early morning house fire in Chestertown has been ruled accidental.

Officials say the blaze was reported just before 6 a.m., at a residence located at 212 Mount Vernon Avenue. We’re told it took 50 firefighters approximately two and a half hours to control the fire, which was discovered to have begun in the exterior front porch soffit.

Total fire damage has been estimated at $350,000.
