Water quality advisory issued for part of Dewey Beach
DEWEY BEACH, Del. – A water quality advisory has been issued in the area of Dewey Beach.
Officials say there is a higher-than-normal bacteria level in the waters near Dagsworthy Street.
According to officials, the bacteria called enterococcus most likely comes from wildlife sources mixed with increased rainfall.
The bacteria could cause health problems particularly for people who are very young or old.
Some people at the beach say although they do not like the idea of getting in the water with the bacteria, they are not worried.
“Doesn’t really concern me that much otherwise I think the water is just fine,” said Lucas Datoli, a Bel Air resident.
“Everybody is still enjoying it and I haven’t seen any case of it affecting anybody,” said Datoli.
A water advisory for the Slaughter Beach along the Delaware Bay is now effect.
