Teen battling cancer gets standing ovation at graduation ceremony

GREENWOOD, Del. – Seniors at Woodbridge High School walked across the graduation stage on Sunday celebrating a new chapter in their lives and their friend star quarterback Troy Haynes.

Haynes who got a standing ovation at the ceremony on Sunday is battling stage four kidney cancer.

His walk across the stage inspired his classmates as well as teachers and parents to live their lives to the fullest and to never give up.

Haynes’ friends said they are so grateful that he was able to share this special moment with them.

“It’s a blessing that he’s here today,” said Enrique Ramos, a graduate at Woodbridge High School who served as vice president for student government.

“He’s a good friend of us, a friend of mine… and it’s a blessing that he’s been able to be here today,” said Ramos.

Senior athletes at the graduation ceremony said Haynes inspires them to be a winner in both sports and life.
