Summer on Somerset expanding to more days, activities
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Officials are preparing to kickoff a summer long party, back and bigger than before, Summer on Somerset.
We spoke with Main Street Princess Anne officials who tell me summer on somerset is not only expanding to more days, but will include events that will encourage more interaction with local businesses.
This event was designed to bring in more people to Princess Anne, and it has done that with over 1,000 visitors for the summer long event each of the past two years.
Folks can now come down to downtown Princess Anne certain Saturdays throughout July and August, in addition to the traditional every Thursday.
To try to draw more traffic and get more people into the town’s shops, businesses and organizations will be offering things like wine tastings, bird house building, or re-purposing antique or found items.
We’re told the idea is to have more events to engage people of all ages in different experiences.
“There’s such a variety of businesses now and we want to give people reasons to come in, to come in to our stores, to take advantage of some of the services and retail opportunities,” said main street manager Carrie Samis.
This will be the third year of Summer on Somerset, and it all kicks off Saturday July 6 in downtown Princess Anne. The Somerset Garden Club will be hosting their Big Herb show, and the local band Blue Crab Crossing will be there to perform.
