Snow Hill working to bring a new affordable development to the area
SNOW HILL, Md. – In Snow Hill, the town is working on a special project to bring more affordable housing to the area. On Tuesday, the town’s mayor and council met with development officials who presented their concept plan for a new development on Belt Street. Currently officials are working on a project to redevelop the Heritage Court Apartments while adding 24 additional town houses to the community. Officials say the new development would also include a community center for residents to go to. They add that this new concept is critical for the town.
“Throughout the eastern shore and in snow hill we see a shortage of affordable housing everywhere. When we bring these new units and preserve these existing units, it’s essential for just a well-rounded housing stock,” said Green Street Housing Principal Thomas Ayd.
If all goes well, the group hopes to break ground on the new development by next year.
