Ocean City visitors don’t feel safe following boardwalk stabbing

OCEAN CITY, Md. – Visitors in Ocean City are still shaken up after a 15 year old and a 17 year old were stabbed on the boardwalk.

Justin Warnick, an Ocean City visitor said, “I heard of fights and stuff. I was shocked when I heard about a stabbing.”

Alia Genovese, another visitor said, “I don’t want to be down here actually anymore.”

It happened after a fight broke out between multiple people.

Both were left with serious injuries, but they’re now in stable condition.

Warnick said, “Seeing that I’m 15 [and my cousin is] seventeen, it could have happened to us, it could have happened to anybody.”

One group of high school graduates say they witnessed one of the victims being taken away on a stretcher after they heard sirens.

Tyrik Pierre, a graduate in town for senior week said, “I went to the corner first to see what happened and we saw the yellow tape and I was like oh snap, that’s yellow tape, like we know what that means. About 15 minutes later, a dude came out in a stretcher. They rolled him into the ambulance and we went in the house just to be safe.”

The suspect has been identified as 19-year-old Harold Rafael Nunez-Dominguez of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Even though people here are shaken up, some say they won’t let this ruin their vacation.

Warnick said, “A part of me is like yeah I should watch out for it but a part of me is like I still want to go out here and have fun but maybe just be a little more careful.”

Jahmir Young, another Ocean City visitor said, “We just got to stick together and you know just watch our surroundings.”

Nunez-Dominguez’s has been charged with two counts of assault in the first and second degree, as well as two counts of reckless endangerment. A warrant was issued for his arrest. He is currently in police custody in Pennsylvania awaiting extradition to Maryland.
