New clear bag policy for Firefly Festival

DOVER, Del. – Firefly kicked things off Thursday, and one thing festival goers should know before heading to the gates is the festival’s new clear bag policy.

The bags that are accepted include clear tote and backpacks, hydration packs with up to two pockets, gallon plastic bags, fanny packs and small hand-held clutches. Mesh backpacks are not allowed in.

We’re told this decision was made for safety reasons, and some in attendance we spoke with say they don’t mind the decision.

“I think it’s cool because a lot of people with theft and stuff that’s, I mean it’s pretty prevailing in festivals. Seeing that they’re trying to address the situation and kind of make the environment safer for the people that are going to the festival is a really great idea,” said Jeff Green.

This policy does not apply to the campground, but will apply when entering the main festival venue.
