MSP investigating three vehicle crash in Worcester County
BERLIN, Md. – Maryland State Police say they are investigating a crash that left one injured in Worcester County Friday morning.
According to police, shortly before 8 a.m., a trooper from the Berlin Barrack was conducting a commercial vehicle inspection on a dump truck on the southbound shoulder of Route 113, south of Bishopville. Investigation revealed that while the trooper and dump truck were on the shoulder, a Nissan Altima crashed into the rear of the troopers’ vehicle, subsequently pushing it into the rear of the dump truck.
The driver and sole occupant of the Nissan, identified as 33-year-old Charles Calvin Lessner, was taken to Atlantic General Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. Neither the trooper nor dump truck driver was injured.
Lessner was charged with DUI and other related charges. The incident remains under investigation.
