Morning crash in Talbot County claims life of one, injures another

EASTON, Md. – A single vehicle crash in Talbot County claimed the life of one and injured another person Wednesday morning.

According to Maryland State Police, at around 10:50 a.m., a Chrysler minivan was traveling west on Route 50 in the area of Plugge Road when it drifted off of the right side of the roadway. The van subsequently hit a drainage ditch and overturned.

A passenger, identified as 68-year-old Carolina Purnell of Port Tobacco, MD, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, identified as 67-year-old Sylvester Purnell, was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center for treatment.
