Man arrested near Dover’s Pride Parade after hitting someone with a car
DOVER, Del. – Police say a 90-year-old man was arrested near the starting point of Dover’s Pride Parade, after he hit a man with his car.
According to officials, the area of West Street and Forest Street was blocked off with barrel barricades and cones, for The Pride Festival Parade.
Reuben Salters, driving a Ford Ranger, reportedly ignored the barrels. Police say he got out of his car to move cones that were blocking a street, where a large crowd of parade goers and participants were gathered.
A 43-year-old event organizer stopped Salters and told him he could not drive there. But Salters apparently hit the man with his car and drove for a short while before stopping. The victim was knocked to the ground and his legs were injured.
Salters was released on an O.R. bond on the following charges: vehicular assault 3rd degree and failure to obey a traffic control device.
