Linda Lee Bravo’s body found, death investigation opened
SOUTH BETHANY, Del. – Neighbors are still in shock after they found out that Linda Lee Bravo’s body was pulled out from a canal along Bayshore Drive in South Bethany.
“They said it was closed off again and that they found her car in the canal, which was pretty crazy for us,” said Michael Marando, a South Bethany resident.
“It’s a very calm place,” said Marando.
Police surrounded the South Bethany area around 6 PM on Friday after someone spotted Bravo’s body floating in the canal.
Bravo was last seen on June 13.
“We just sat out back on the boat and we noticed helicopters and everything flying around and then later we kept looking on the news to see what was going on and later we heard that they found a body back there,” said Marando.
After the body was recovered dive teams were called in and that is when Bravo’s white Mercedes Benz was found at the bottom of the canal.
Some boaters tell 47ABC they never suspected that Bravo’s car was submerged right under their noses.
“So, that was kind of really strange and that kind of set us back a little bit knowing that we were crossing over that area probably at least 12 times since the 13th, which is a little upsetting at first when you think about it,” said Marando.
Right now it is not clear how Bravo’s car crashed into the canal, but some say this neighborhood does not have enough lighting at night. Others say the roads can often be confusing.
“I guess anything can happen, especially when you’re not familiar with the road or maybe you get disoriented or something like that,” said Marando.
Police say the death of Linda Lee Bravo was ruled accidental, and now a death investigation is underway.
Bravo’s body has been turned over to the Division of Forensic Science for an autopsy.
There will be a candlelight vigil held in remembrance of Bravo on Monday, July 1 at 8:30 PM on Route 1 and Anchorage Drive.
