Former Pocomoke youth pastor sentenced for sex abuse of minors

WORCESTER CO., Md. – On Friday, a former Pocomoke youth pastor was sentenced to 75 years behind bars, with all but 37 suspended.

Back in February, 34-year-old Rodney Harmon Jr. was convicted of three counts of sexual abuse of a minor and one count of displaying an obscene item to a minor.

The charges date back to August 2018, when the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of child sexual abuse. The Worcester County Child Advocacy Center (the Cricket Center) and Child Protective Services then launched a joint investigation, learning that Harmon had sexually abused multiple children while working as a youth pastor for a Pocomoke City church.

Harmon will also be required to register as a sex offender for life.
