UPDATE: Early morning Salisbury house fire deemed accidental
SALISBURY, Md. – Maryland State Fire officials have ruled an early morning house fire in Salisbury accidental.
We’re told the Salisbury Fire Department responded to the blaze just after 12:30 a.m., at a house located at 1117 Bryn Mawr Avenue. It took 25 firefighters approximately 40 minutes to control.
Neighbors say they woke up and saw flames bursting through the roof of the home, and immediately jumped into action.
“A guy who said he was an Uber driver was driving by, he saw the smoke, tried to kick in the door,” one neighbor, Tryone Hargrove, said. “I heard the banging, so I ran outside and ran over to help. He finally kicked the door in and ran through the house. Nobody was home, luckily, and then that’s when the fire department and everybody was pulling up.”
Investigation has revealed that the fire was a result of an electrical issue and began in the attic of the home. Heavy fire damage has been estimated at $100,000.
