Dover Police investigating fatal motorcycle crash
DOVER, Del. – Dover Police say an early morning motorcycle crash has claimed the life of one.
At around 1:30 a.m., witnesses reportedly heard what they believed to be a crash in the area but could not find it because it was dark out, therefore they did not notify police at this time. Just before 5:30 a.m., a resident found the crash scene and called police.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that 29-year-old Nicholas Dilorenzo of Wyoming, DE, was driving a Yamaha motorcycle northbound on Wyoming Mill Road at a high rate of speed. Dilorenzo lost control of the motorcycle after failing to negotiate a left curve in the roadway, subsequently veering off the road and hitting two fences before coming to a stop in a backyard.
Police say Dilorenzo died at the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
