DEVELOPING: Linda Lee Bravo’s body found in South Bethany canal
SOUTH BETHANY, Del. – Police in the Bethany Beach and South Bethany confirm that Linda Lee Bravo’s body was found in a South Bethany canal, Friday evening.
Officials say Bravo was found in the water near York Road and Bayshore Drive around 5:30 p.m.
South Bethany Police were assisted by the Bethany Beach Police, Ocean View Police, Delaware State Police and the Bethany Fire & Rescue units to recover her body from the canal. Bravo was pronounced dead at the scene and brought to the Medical Examiners Office, Wilmington. The Division of Forensic Science determined the cause of Bravo’s death was accidental drowning.
On Saturday around 7 a.m., the Bethany Beach Police Department used a Delaware State Police Dive unit to find Bravo’s vehicle in the canal and take it out of the water. Her car was turned over to the Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit.
Bethany Beach Police say this appears to be a fatal accident investigation, “Bravo’s family request you respect their privacy during this emotional period. They also want to thank everyone that reached out to them and assisted them in this difficult time.”
The South Bethany Police Department is conducting a death investigation with the assistance of the Delaware State Police CRU, Troop 4 Detectives and the Bethany Beach Police.
