Community to host candlelight vigil in honor of John Cassidy
EASTON, Md. – In the wake of a tragic death at the Easton Family YMCA, community members are planning a candlelight vigil.
On Thursday, police say 72-year-old John Cassidy died after he was stabbed multiple times in an attempted robbery. Police since have charged the suspect Andre Lamot Price Jefferson with first and second degree murder.
Now the Easton community is hoping to honor Cassidy’s life while also supporting Cassidy’s family.
Rabbi Peter Hyman from Temple B’Nai Israel hopes the candlelight vigil will be a chance for the community to find healing.
“The vigil will really be an opportunity for us to say we are strong, our hearts are in the right place and we will move forward in strength,” said Hyman.
The vigil will be held on the front steps of the Easton Family YMCA tomorrow at 7:30 PM.
