Budweiser Clydesdales, special pilsner highlight centennial celebration for Delaware State Fair

HARRINGTON, Del. – We are now less than one month away from the kickoff of the Delaware State Fair, and those in charge say fair goers are in for quite the celebration this year.

And what’s a birthday celebration without cake. There won’t be a traditional cake, but there will be 30,000 Tastykakes handed out.

Also of note, the fair is partnering with Big Oyster Brewery to offer a pilsner that’s made with a pre-prohibition 1919 recipe.

On top of that, the Budweiser Clydesdales will be making an appearance, and will be showcased in the nightly parade everyday.

And if you’re attending, you will more than likely get a fireworks show. There will be a fireworks show eight out of the ten nights this year.

“Expect a big extravaganza on Saturday, the first Saturday, the night of Reba McEntire, it’s a sold-out show,” the Delaware State Fair marketing director Danny Aguilar said. “And we’re planning a second launch location, so it’s going to be the biggest show that I remember seeing here.”

The fair will open its doors at noon July 18 and will wrap things up on the 27. We’ll be broadcasting our NewsHour and 6 o’clock news there live all 10 days in the exhibit hall.
