Worcester County recovery home ready to expand
BERLIN, Md. – Hope4Recovery, a sober living facility in Worcester County, opened its doors last October, and since then has been consistently filled to capacity with people looking to get back on their feet. Now, just six months later, they are looking to expand.
In their time being open, the facility has helped over 30 locals with their recovery from substance abuse.
“It gives them that buffer before they kinda have to go home, or go out on their own. And we’ve had numerous guys who have done so well and gone on to independent living already,” said Patrice Ottey.
It’s become such a needed resource in the community that the organization is looking to expand.
As of now, the facility has twelve beds to offer, but can hold up to 16. We’re told the time is right to expand, which is why organizations in the community teamed up for this first fundraiser Saturday.
“It could give four more people, at that time, an opportunity to be in a structured, sober and safe environment,” said Ottey.
Hope4Recovery says they will need to raise at least $60,000 to accomplish their expansion. They hope to complete their expansion within the next 12 months.
The non-profit will be holding a second fundraiser at the Ocean Lanes bowling alley on June 2. The $300 registration fee includes three games, shoes, pizza, water, and will go toward helping locals with their recovery.
