Worcester County officials to hold town hall ahead of public budget meeting
OCEAN PINES, Md. – in Worcester County, elected officials are preparing to hold a town hall this weekend for residents to answer any questions ahead of their 2020 budget meeting. County officials we spoke with tell us these town halls are a way to be more transparent with the community, and answer any questions that residents may have. We’re told the principal of Stephen Decatur Middle School, the Worcester County State’s Attorney, and the Chief Deputy of the Sheriff’s Office will all be in attendance on Saturday. Discussions will include important projects that are going on within the county, we’re told it’s a way to make sure everyone is on the same page.
“I’ve brought people in from across the government both state and local government to answer questions so people can get more informed about what they’re paying for. We work for them, and as taxpayers we’re all paying for services and we have a responsibility as elected officials to answer the questions of the people who have hired us,” said Worcester County Commissioner Chip Bertino.
Officials say the town hall will take place on Saturday, May 4th at 10 AM at the Ocean Pines Library. We’re also told that the upcoming budget meeting will take place on Tuesday, May 7th at Stephen Decatur High School at 7 PM.
