South Bethany could soon be getting a new police chief

SOUTH BETHANY, Del. – It seems South Bethany could soon have a new police chief. On Monday, the police department told 47ABC that the town recently conducted interviews for a new police chief, and the town council is expected to make a decision on who the new chief will be sometime next week.

The police chief position isn’t the only spot the department is looking to fill, they also need officers.

To help make up for the short staff, neighboring departments have stepped up to provide coverage this summer, which is something that the South Bethany Police Department says they are very grateful for.

Sergeant Patrick Wiley with the South Bethany Police Department said, “It’s a testament to their degree of professionalism. In Ocean View and Fenwick, they are very great police agencies and they are two agencies that are coming together to help out their neighbor and we appreciate that tremendously.”
