Seaford swears in new police chief
SEAFORD, Del. – A new police chief was officially sworn in in Seaford. Police Chief Marshall Craft is now the new face of the Seaford Police Department.
Craft, a native to western Sussex County was a Delaware state trooper for over 30 years before taking on his new role as police chief.
He tells 47 ABC that his goals are to reduce crime and build relationships with the community. But before he focuses on deterring crime, Craft wants to hear from the residents of Seaford.
“I plan to go around to all the different churches on Sunday in the different communities to make myself accessible. I think that would be a great opportunity to let them see me in their environment where they might feel more comfortable in approaching me and I want to listen to what they have to say,” explains Chief Craft.
He is also hoping to get the Seaford Police Department to take over the school resource officer positions within the Seaford School District as well as getting officers more involved in the youth.
