Salisbury gets involved in Bike to Work Week
SALISBURY, Md. – Salisbury city officials are encouraging residents to break out the bicycles in honor of National Bike to Work Week.
There are all kinds of incentives in place for people to ride their bike this week.
For example, if you show up to Rise Up Coffee Roasters in a bike, you can get a free cup of coffee!
If you take a picture of yourself riding your bike to work and send it to city leaders, you will have the chance to get a $20 gift card to any downtown business of your choosing.
Salisbury Mayor Jake Day tells us he hopes this effort will encourage more people to embrace this alternate form of transportation in the city.
Mayor Day said, “This is something that Salisbury wants to do just to take a moment to participate in the national efforts to encourage people to choose alternative modes of transport that are safer, that are healthier, and that will benefit the environment.”
On Tuesday at 7:30 a.m., Mayor Jake Day and others will be riding their bikes from Salisbury University to downtown in honor of Bike to Work Week.
