Repairs still underway for Woodland Ferry in Seaford

SEAFORD, Del. – Repairs for the Woodland Ferry in Seaford are still underway.

According to the state department of transportation, the ferry has helped drivers in the community for years, but it has been closed since November for repairs.

Officials say the fixes will help the ferry run for another 5 years. According to the state department of transportation, the ferry makes about 45,000 trips every year during the summer.

Locals on Tuesday said the ferry is important for a lot of people who travel between Seaford and Laurel.

“Our daughter lives just about a mile on the other side, so it’s very convenient otherwise we got to go, it’s 7 or 8 miles,” said¬†Jack Knowles, a Seaford resident.

According to the state department of transportation, the Woodland Ferry will be out-of-service until this summer.
