Rehoboth Police arrest Wilmington woman for assaulting multiple people

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – A Wilmington woman was arrested Sunday night on multiple charges following a fight outside of a Rehoboth Beach bar.

Just before 11 p.m., officers responded to the Purple Parrot for a report of a fight in progress. On arrival, an officer saw 21-year-old Michelle Villa actively fighting and attempted to put her in handcuffs. Villa then tried to pull away and flee from the officer, but she was eventually placed in handcuffs and positioned on the ground.

While attempting to take another person involved in the fight into custody, Villa freed her hand from one of the handcuffs and was again trying to flee the scene. The officer stopped Villa and further detained her until another officer arrived to assist.

The officer sustained a laceration to his leg while trying to take her into custody. Villa also assaulted three other people during the incident, and sustained minor injuries as well.

Villa was charged with felony second degree assault resulting in injury to a law enforcement officer, felony resisting arrest, two counts of third degree assault, offensive touching, and disorderly conduct. She is currently being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on $14,200 secured bail.
