Public invited to open house at Somerset Co. Sheriff’s Office

WESTOVER, Md. – The Somerset County Sheriff’s Office is holding an open house this weekend, to better connect with the community.

The Sheriff’s Department moved into its new location, on Crisfield Highway, back in September. Now they’re ready to show off the renovated 16-thousand-square foot space that used to be the health department.

On Saturday you’ll be able to tour the building, meet some of the deputies and see some of the equipment they use. The Sheriff’s Office is also offering fingerprinting that parents can get done for their kids and face painting for kids. The Sheriff says it’s all part of an effort to meet the people they serve everyday.

“People can get to meet the deputies that work the road and they may see them in passing but if they can get to talk to them in person, they’ll become more friendly and be able to interact with them easier,” says Somerset County Sheriff Ronnie Howard.

The Wicomico County Sheriff is also sending two K9’s down to Westover to do some K9 demonstrations on Saturday. They will also have a free raffle with prizes donated from Tractor Supply (Pocomoke), Paws n Claws Cottages (Princess Anne) and the Pocomoke Walmart.

The free open house is on Saturday, June 1 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The Sheriff’s Office is located at 7920 Crisfield Highway in Westover. For more information, call 410-651-9225.
