Police searching for suspects in connection to weekend shooting incident in Salisbury
SALISBURY, Md. – Salisbury Police are investigating after a female was reportedly shot in the leg in the downtown Salisbury area early Sunday morning.
According to officials, the report came in at around 2 a.m., in the 200 block of E. Main Street. When officers arrived on scene they immediately began breaking up a large crowd and interviewing witnesses. learning that a 27-year-old female victim had sustained a gunshot wound to her leg.
After speaking with witnesses on scene, detectives met with the female victim at PRMC, where she was receiving treatment for serious but non-life threatening injuries. A 28-year-old male was also being treated for non-life threatening injuries to his head and face as a result of a fight in the same location.
Investigation revealed that both victims were leaving Mojo’s restaurant when a verbal altercation broke out between the male victim and several unknown suspects. The unknown suspects then reportedly began assaulting the male victim as he was trying to get into his vehicle to leave the scene. During the incident, one of the suspects pulled out a handgun and began shooting at the male victim, subsequently shooting the female victim in the leg.
After firing the shots, the suspects fled the area in an unknown direction. Police say that the first suspect was described as a male, wearing a white shirt and light colored pants. The second suspect was described as a male, medium to long dreadlocks, stocky build, facial hair, and was last seen wearing a black shirt and black pants. He was also believed to be in possession of a handgun. No further suspect description was provided.
The female victim was treated and released from PRMC. The male victim was initially taken to PRMC but was later taken to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center for further treatment.
Detectives are continuing to work with Mojo’s staff and nearby businesses to try and obtain video surveillance footage. As footage is closely analyzed by detectives, it will be released to the public in hopes of identifying the suspects involved in this incident.
