Planet Fitness wants to get local teens up and moving with their new summer fitness initiative

SALISBURY, Md. — Today on Good Morning Delmarva, our very own Erica Murphy sat down with Lela Simon, the general manager of Planet Fitness here in Salisbury.

Lela gave us insight on what was new for Planet Fitness this upcoming summer. They are launching a nationwide initiative to get teens to become more active. She tells us 58% of teens in Maryland do not get the recommended amounts of exercise each day; in Delaware it’s 48%. Planet Fitness is starting the Teen Summer Challenge initiative. This will offer teens free fitness classes to teenagers Monday through Friday with certified fitness trainers.

Sign-ups are available now through the summer. But don’t wait too long, by the end of summer, 51 lucky teens across all 50 states and Washington, D.C., will be randomly selected to receive a $500 scholarship, and one teen will receive a $5,000 grand prize.  Working out with the possibly of getting paid?
