Pittsville continues to address water concerns

PITTSVILLE, Md. – Pittsville has brought on a new firm, Shore Environmental, as well as the Maryland Rural Water Association to look over its water plant with town engineers.

Town Manager Joe Mangini says they are looking for $2 Million from the state, in either the form of a grant or loan, for upgrades for their water plant, new water meters, and potentially a new water plant altogether.

Mangini says despite their efforts, they don’t expect an answer from the state on that funding for six months.

“We’ve started the ball rolling. We started it rolling and I think that under the circumstances, based upon what we’ve had happen, I think we’re going to have some strong support coming from all of those people.”

We’re told Pittsville will be implementing a schedule for flushing their hydrants in the spring and fall. The next town meeting will be June 12, where we’re told they will be discussing the town budget.
