North Prong Park plans move forward

SALISBURY, Md. – An area in Salisbury is finally getting some attention from city officials for redevelopment. North Prong Park, on the north side of the Wicomico River, has been a spot for potential revitalization since the 2000s, but as you can see not much has come from those efforts.

But now the city is moving forward with plans to turn a majority of this riverside land into added park space. The city now has seven conceptual designs, done by UMD Architecture students, of what to do and are excited to turn these designs into action.

“Now the city will actually go about asking DNR and other entities for some funding to design and build a park system along the north prong park. I think ultimately you’ll see some of this being developed but most of it that we’re looking at would become parkland,” explains Salisbury Mayor Jake Day.

Day says there will be a series of public hearing sessions coming up in the near future to get more input from local community members on what they want to see for this new park.
