NASCAR event makes way to Dover, $94 million economic impact expected

DOVER, Del. – It’s the most wonderful time of the year for NASCAR Fans, as the motor sport makes its way to Dover’s International Speedway. Nearly 100,000 people are expected to make their way to Delaware’s capital this weekend.We’re told the event brings legendary drivers across the country to the Delmarva area.
And officials say in just three days, the NASCAR event is expected to rake in close to $94 million in revenue for the state’s economy.

“When you think about the tourism and the investment that people make to attend these events and come visit Dover Delaware in the mid Atlantic they usually take the time while they’re here to go to Philadelphia, Baltimore, D.C. , and see the area so it’s really just I think I will win win for everybody,” said assistant vice president of marketing and communications for Dover International Speedway, Gary Camp.
