Milford man sentenced on rape charges
MILFORD, Del. – A Milford man has been sentenced to 12 years behind bars for raping a woman at knifepoint in her own home.
The incident happened back in early October 2018, at a home in the 800 block of SE Fourth Street. 31-year-old Kamau Graves told the victim that he was looking for her boyfriend and asked to use the bathroom after finding out that the boyfriend wasn’t there. Once the victim let Graves inside, he took a knife from the kitchen and threatened her with it before raping her.
Graves pleaded guilty in February to two counts of third degree rape and one count of possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony.
A judge sentenced Graves to 12 years in prison, during which he must complete the Transitions Sex Offender Program as well as the Key Substance Abuse Program, followed by six years of probation. He is also required to register as a Tier III sex offender and is not allowed to have contact with the victim.
