Marydel man arrested after police find one pot meth labs in vehicle

DOVER, Del. – Dover Police arrested a Marydel man on drug charges after responding to call of a possible overdose/medical issue Thursday morning.

Just before 8:30 a.m., officers responded to the Walgreen’s parking lot at 1001 Forrest Avenue in Dover. On arrival, 59-year-old Eugene Thompson Jr was found inside his vehicle and was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

While they were helping Thompson, officers found a “one pot meth lab” inside of the vehicle, and later found a second one in the trunk. Three vials containing a total of .6 grams of methamphetamine was also found inside of the vehicle.

Police say emergency response and hazardous material teams responded and safely disposed of the “one pot” labs, which caused the parking lot to be closed for a few hours.

Once Thompson was released from the hospital, he was charged with operating a clandestine laboratory, possession of methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia, and was later released on his own recognizance.
