Local markets experiencing fruitful strawberry season so far

HEBRON, Md. – If you are a fan of strawberry picking, you’re in luck  because so far strawberry season has been great. Even though we’ve had some rain, Oakley’s Farm Market in Hebron says that it hit at the right time, producing a delicious crop of strawberries this year.

It’s a great thing since last year Delmarva had 22 days of rain in May, making it tough for any crop to have a good season.

“We’re very hopeful. Farmers need a really good year this year it’s been a hard couple of years so we’re hoping this year we’re blessed with a good season,” explains Connie Oakley, owner of Oakley’s Farm Market.

Right now Oakley’s Farm Market has many strawberry fields ready to be picked by the public, all you have to do is go out with your bucket and pick away. They’re open seven days a week from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m.
