Dover Police attempting to identify shoplifting suspects

DOVER, Del. – Dover Police are investigating a reported shoplifting incident that happened at the Dover Mall Sunday afternoon.

Officers responded to the Macy’s store at the mall just after 1:30 p.m. It was reported that a loss prevention employee saw a group of four female suspects concealing items in several plastic bags. The suspects were also reportedly accompanied by two young children.

The employee tried to retrieve the items once the suspects passed the point of purchase, but two of the females sprayed him with pepper spray when he grabbed one of the bags. The suspects then fled the scene.

Police say the use of pepper spray makes this incident a robbery case.

This incident remains under investigation, and anyone that may have information is urged to contact the Dover Police Department at 302-736-7130 or Delaware Crime Stoppers 1-800-TIP-3333.
