Crisfield hopes to bring local armory back to life

CRISFIELD, Md. – The City of Crisfield is hoping to get community support to revitalize the city’s armory.

Right now they’re applying for grants to revitalize the Crisfield Armory which has been vacant for years. The hope is to get enough funding to turn the place into a space for community events, especially for kids.

It’s a move that many say is a great idea since they say there isn’t an indoor place for kids to play.

Former Mayor Kim Lawson says, “Any place that has a building of the construction quality of Crisfield Armory should do everything it can to save it not let it fall into a bunch of cinder blocks.”

The City of Crisfield is seeking letters of support from residents for the grant application right now through May 31st.

Letter of support can be sent by email to jmerritt@crisfieldcityhall.com. They say the project would cost about $5.6 million.  five and a half million dollars.
