Cape girls lacrosse advances to their eleventh straight state title game

DOVER, De.- Behind eight goals from senior Meredith Lockwood, the Cape girls lacrosse team has advanced to their eleventh straight state title game with the  18-11 win over Ursuline.

Cape got on the board first with a Skylar Walker under hand goal, the Vikings would jump out to an early 5-2 lead but the Raiders of Ursuline would start to climb back. A few goals from Jordan Baerga and Moira Carroll got them back into it tying the game at five. The Vikes would end the first half with a four one run to take a 9-6 lead. Skylar Walker and Meredith Lockwood led all scorers with three first half goals.

In the second half one Cape player hit a huge milestone. Senior attack Chloe Schaeffer would net her hundredth goal with a rocket across her body, she had three goals on the day. Cape would pull away late with a 5-0 run midway through the second half to take this one 18-11, advancing to the state championship game.

Cape will play Archmere on Thursday for the state title, Archmeres first state title appearance in over ten years.
