Beebe breaks ground on new surgical hospital

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – The ground was broken today for the third and final project by Beebe Healthcare Wednesday afternoon.

Leaders for Beebe plan to build a $124 Million specialty surgical hospital at the new Rehoboth Beach Health Campus.

The new facility will allow patients with scheduled surgeries to have their own place to have the best experience possible. Types of surgeries at this hospital include orthopedics, general surgery, urology and gynecologic.

This location will have a robotic surgery center with certified robotic surgeons.

“It allows the opportunity for people, particularly as healthcare changes and inpatient stays get shorter and procedures can be done in a much more rapid way. I think it gives a much more cost-effective option, and a more convenient option for folks, because the facility’s really designed around those type of procedures,” said Rick Schaffner, the interim CEO for Beebe Healthcare.

The Specialty Surgical Hospital will take approximately two years to construct, with an anticipated opening in July 2022.
