Worcester Co. Commissioners introduce room tax legislation
WORCESTER CO., Md. – The Town of Ocean City just got one step closer to increasing their room tax.
The Worcester County Commissioners just introduced legislation that would increase the room tax from 4.5% to 5%.
This comes after the Town of Ocean City submitted a letter to the county commissioners asking them to consider the change.
If this legislation gets passed, Ocean City’s visitors can expect to pay a little more when visiting the beach town.
The money raised from this change would help pay for expenses related to tourism like the cost of public works, the cost of the police department, hosting special events and funding destination advertising.
A public hearing on the room tax change will be held in late May.
