Tips for surviving allergy season

The pollen is here and that means so is allergy season.

If you’ve noticed you’ve been experiencing itchy watery eyes, a stuffy or runny nose, and a cough, chances are you’re probably the victim of a pollen allergy.

We have good news, there are steps you can take to survive the spring.

First, you can avoid going outside as much as possible but if you want to enjoy the beautiful weather, we’re told over the counter nasal sprays and non-sedating anti-histamines are your best bet.

Dr. Curt Watkins with Peninsula Allergy & Asthma said, “You wanna do avoidance where you can but the weather is beautiful I want people to go outside don’t be afraid to ask the pharmacist or your doctor for some suggestions about medications.”

If you continue to suffer from allergies even after taking over the counter medication, you’re encouraged to make an appointment with an allergist so they can better assist you.
