Tanger Outlets has sold it’s West Ocean City location

WEST OCEAN CITY, Md. – Tanger Outlets, best known for discount shopping, has announced that they are selling four of their locations and one of them resides in West Ocean City.

We spoke to locals on Wednesday to hear what they think about this. Many said they hate to see Tanger Outlets go, others are excited to see what’s going to be done with the property moving forward.

Bonnie Machen, a shopper said, “I’m excited to see what’s going to develop.”

Singerman Real Estate and The Outlet Resource Group are the ones who bought the property.

Neckel said, “You know you’ve got to give it a chance I guess maybe the new owners will be something that will be exciting and new and I’m willing to try if it’s stores.”

The new owners announced on their website that a Forever 21 and Michael Kors are in the works for this location.

Melanie Pursel with the Ocean City Chamber of Commerce said, “I certainly think that when they attract one or two of those larger stores or brands it’s going to start bringing other people in and other people are going to want to make that investment into the new outlet center. So as long as we can keep those store fronts, full, people will come.”

Overall, members of the Ocean City Chamber of Commerce tel us they are just relieved that this property will continue to provide convenient and discounted shopping to Ocean City’s visitors and residents for years to come.

Pursel said, “We’re really excited to know that another quality company has taken over. At first I was a little bit nervous I was like, oh my gosh, we don’t want to see these shops go away, especially after the massive renovation. It is a huge draw for Ocean City, for the locals, the tourists, the like so.”

This location will soon be called Outlets Ocean City. No word yet on when signage will go up here.

If you truly are a dedicated Tanger Outlets fan, and you refuse to shop anywhere else, the Rehoboth location is still up and running and likely won’t be going anywhere for years to come.
